India are the hosts of the upcoming ICC World Cup. The tournament is set to kickstart on October 5 and will see last edition’s finalists England and New Zealand clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India will be taking on Australia on October 8 to open their World Cup campaign. The Men in Blue have won the competition twice. Their first triumph came in 1983 which saw a Kapil Dev-led side beat the favourites, West Indies, at Lord’s, England. India’s second World Cup victory came in 2011 with Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the helm.

It also marked the first time that a host nation had won the competition. Since then both Australia and England have managed to repeat the feat in 2015 and 2019, respectively. With a dominant showing at the Asia Cup 2023, India look to continue the trend of the hosts tasting glory at the World Cup.
