Based on the life of cricketer Jhulan Goswani, the film tells his inspiring story of rising through the ranks in the sports world despite several setbacks from a misogynistic society. Directed by Prosit Roy, the film is expected to start streaming on Netflix by the end of this year.
Qala
Anushka Sharma made a glamorous appearance in Anvita Dutt’s psychological drama Qala. She performed a quintessential diva in the hit song “Ghodey Pe Sawaar” created by Amit Trivedi in collaboration with Amitabh Bhattacharya and Sireesha Bhagavatula.
Paatal Lok
Anushka Sharma has donned a producer’s hat for crime thriller web show Paatal Lok, co-directed by Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy. Starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag and Abhishek Banerjee in lead roles, the series chronicles the life of a cynical detective assigned to investigate a high-profile case. This opens a long chain of dark events that lead him to decipher the secrets of the underworld realm. Released on Amazon Prime, the show’s plot is loosely based on Tarun Tejpal’s 2010 novel The Story of My Assassins.
Bulbul
Bulbbul is another project in which Anushka Sharma served as a producer. The supernatural thriller is set against the backdrop of the Bengal Presidency of the 1880s. Directed by Anvita Dutt, the film stars Avinash Tiwary, Paoli Dam and Rahul Bose in the lead. The story revolves around the life of a child bride who grows up to run her household while hiding a haunting past. As supernatural murders plague her village, Bulbbul recounts how she strays from her innocence to gain strength.
Zero
This Aanand L Rai directing was Anushka Sharma’s last appearance on the big screen. Also starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead, Zero was released in theaters in 2018. The plot of the film tells an unconventional love story of a short man who falls head over heels in love with a scientist suffering from paralysis cerebral.
