KL Rahul is likely to be left out of the remaining 2023 IPL season, alongside Jaydev Unadkat, who will both be monitored by BCCI
Lucknow Super Giants are set to do without the services of their boss KL Rahul, the LSG skipper is in all likelihood left out of the ongoing IPL 2023 campaign according to a report by PTI. Rahul will watch the match between Lucknow and Chennai Super Kings but will leave for Mumbai on Thursday where he is expected to undergo scans on his thigh injury.
The 31-year-old injured his right leg as he rushed behind the ball in the loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore at Ekana Stadium on Monday.

Rahul is currently in a ‘race against time’ to be fit for the World Test Championship final which will be played at the London Oval from June 7-11 against Australia. Star pacer Jaydev Unadkat will also miss the remainder of the campaign, the PTI report added.
“KL is currently with the Lucknow squad but he is leaving the camp on Thursday after watching the game against CSK on Wednesday. His tests will be carried out in Mumbai at the BCCI designated medical facility. His case as well as that of Jaydev will be processed by BCCI,” a senior BCCI official said, as quoted by PTI.

The source further confirmed that no scans have been done so far, once the swelling subsides, only scans can be done. With Rahul set to be sidelined, Krunal Pandya is set to lead LSG in their remaining games, starting with Wednesday’s high-octane clash against Chennai Super Kings.
“When someone sustains an injury like this there is a considerable amount of pain and swelling in and around the area. The swelling takes about 24 to 48 hours to heal and that is only after that you can do the analysis,” the source added.
“As he (KL Rahul) is an important member of the test team, it would be prudent if he no longer participates in the IPL,” the PTI source said.

Rahul was his team’s leading points scorer in IPL 2023 with 274 points to his name in nine innings.
“Once scans have determined the degree of injury, the BCCI medical team will decide how to proceed,” the PTI report added.
Lucknow Super Giants currently sit third in the IPL 2023 Rankings with 10 points from 9 games. Meanwhile, injuries to Rahul and Unadkat added to Team India’s growing list of injuries ahead of the WTC Finals with Kolkata Knight Riders’ Shardul Thakur another player nursing an injury ahead of the summit clash.
