Kedar Jadhav returns to Royal Challengers Bangalore as replacement for David Willey

Kedar Jadhav made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils in 2010 and has so far played 93 matches while scoring 1196 points.

Kedar Jadhav is back at IPL after a one season hiatus as he returns to his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for the remainder of their current campaign. Jadhav, a versatile drummer, has been included in the RCB squad as a replacement for David Willey.

Jadhav, who made his IPL debut in 2010, has so far played 93 IPL matches and has 1196 runs against his name. The right-handed hitter, who has already represented RCB in 17 matches, has been signed for INR 1 Crore.

Willey, the English all-rounder, has made four appearances for RCB this season and scalped three wickets.

Jadhav, 38, played for RCB in 2016 and 2017 before joining Chennai Super Kings.

He would later represent Sunrisers Hyderabad at IPL 2021 before going unsold in successive auctions last year.

“Last year too I didn’t play in the IPL. I played for 10-12 years and I’m happy with it. It’s not the end of the world. The goal of a cricketer should be to play for India not IPL IPL is just a platform where you can speed up your selection process,” Jadhav said in an interview with Sportstar earlier this year in January.

Jadhav, however, remained associated with IPL 2023 as an expert on JioCinema which holds the online streaming rights for the T20 tournament.

In fact, Jadhav hadn’t played any form of cricket for over a year before appearing for Maharashtra in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy.

The veteran silenced speculation surrounding his form and fitness with a stunning comeback as he racked up 555 runs in just six innings, including a double century.

Jadhav averaged 9.250 and hit two centuries and as many half centuries to finish as Maharashtra’s top run-getter of the Ranji Trophy season.

As for his T20 record, the mid-ranked hitter played in 155 games and scored 2,484 runs at a 128.37 strike rate. It has 14 half-centuries including a best of 84 not released.

RCB have won four and lost as many matches in IPL 2023 and will face Lucknow Super Giants later tonight.
