Virat Kohli’s fan following is beyond anybody’s imagination. Wherever he goes, his admirers follow him back just to have a glimpse of the star Indian cricketer. And those who manage to get a selfie or an autograph, consider themselves the luckiest. Kohli is currently in Sri Lanka for Asia Cup 2023 in which India made it to finals after defeating the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Fours. Ahead of the all-important clash in Colombo, the former Indian captain got mobbed by fans despite the presence of security personnel.

The video of fans gathering around Kohli for pictures has gone viral on social media. The Indian players could be seen coming out of a door, seeming in the hotel lobby, where the fans were already waiting. As soon as they saw Kohli in the group of players, all of them lost their calm and mobbed the Indian star.

Take a look at the video:

Virat Kohli on Sunday returned to the playing XI for the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He was benched for the game against Bangladesh which India narrowly lost by 6 runs.

Kohli showcased one of his best performances against Pakistan on Monday – which was the designated Reserve Day for the game. He scored an unbeaten 122 off 94 balls and also featured in a record 233-run partnership for the third wicket with KL Rahul. The unbeaten stand powered India to a mammoth 356/2 in 50 overs.

In reply, Pakistan were bundled out for 128 and lost the game by 228 runs. Kuldeep Yadav registered the second 5-wicket haul of his ODI career and was the pick of the Indian bowlers in the game.

India’s last title, across the three formats, came in 2018 when Rohit’s side beat Bangladesh in the Asia Cup by three wickets in Dubai. Since that victory, India’s inability to master crunch matches and occasions has been startling.

India reached the semifinals of the 50-over World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022, besides losing against New Zealand and Australia in the WTC finals in 2019 and 2023 respectively. However, India will believe that they have a brilliant chance to add a trophy to their glittering collection come Sunday.
